The Career Center sponsors a variety of workshops and career expositions throughout the semester. A schedule of events is available from the Career Center office. A number of guides are also available on topics such as job searching on the Internet, writing business letters and resumes, and interview preparation. There are also lists of major employers and Placement Partners available, which indicate types of positions available and degree majors sought.
The College of Information provides assistance to graduates seeking professional positions. Whereas the College cannot guarantee employment, the placement rate is high, especially for persons who are flexible in their choice of position and geographic location.
Alumni who wish to change positions are encouraged to write their former advisors, who may be able to provide information on suitable vacancies. Alumni informing the College of their interests in position changes can be provided with useful referrals. There has been considerable concern in students' minds about the availability of positions upon graduation in library and related professions. While there is not an average number of positions throughout the profession, and the College cannot guarantee employment, the placement rate is high for persons who are flexible as to type of available position of work, and mobile as to location. Every effort will be made by the College to help graduates find positions, and, of course, graduates are expected to help themselves in seeking suitable employment through letters and personal interviews.

ALA offers a free Placement Center at each Annual Conference and Midwinter Meeting. Job openings are listed from all types of libraries. Job-seekers may register even if they are not able to be present at the Placement Center and may purchase the listing of job openings. If job-seekers attend the conference, interviews with employers can be arranged. Student members may list their membership in ALA, ALA divisions, and ALA round tables on their resumes.
Career Leads job listings are listed on the ALA Website. Jobs are listed alphabetically and are grouped according to type of library (i.e. academic library, public library, music library, etc.) At the end of the listing will be Late Job notices which arrived too late to be placed in the first group of ads. ALA’s College & Research Libraries News also has its job listings posted on the ALA Web Page. Vacancies are taken from the monthly publication C&RL News and postings are listed alphabetically by job title.
American Society for Information Science
ASIS also offers a Placement Center at it annual conference. Job openings are listed for various types of positions in the Information field. The Career Placement Service of the University offers resources for students and recent graduates seeking employment. This service is free to all FSU students, and information on its activity is available from its office on Campus. The Career Center, located in University Center, helps students in all phases of their career development. The Center's Curricular-Career Information Service helps students determine career interests and select appropriate academic programs to reach their career choices through various pre-professional internships and work experiences. Students nearing the end of their academic programs find help in the Career Placement Services Unit that administers the on-campus recruitment program and helps students develop effective job search techniques. At the University Center office, students have access to both computerized and printed career materials.
