College of Information

The College of Information provides assistance to graduates seeking professional positions. Whereas the College cannot guarantee employment, the placement rate is high, especially for persons who are flexible in their choice of position and geographic location.

Alumni who wish to change positions are encouraged to write their former advisors, who may be able to provide information on suitable vacancies. Alumni informing the College of their interests in position changes can be provided with useful referrals. There has been considerable concern in students' minds about the availability of positions upon graduation in library and related professions. While there is not an average number of positions throughout the profession, and the College cannot guarantee employment, the placement rate is high for persons who are flexible as to type of available position of work, and mobile as to location. Every effort will be made by the College to help graduates find positions, and, of course, graduates are expected to help themselves in seeking suitable employment through letters and personal interviews.
