Financial Aid and Laptop Purchases
Because computers are required for our programs, you are eligble to include them in your Financial Aid Package
If
you intend to apply for financial aid at FSU, you are urged to contact
the Financial Aid Office as soon as possible. (850) 644-5716 (http://financialaid.fsu.edu)
Follow these steps to obtain financial aid for your notebook computer:
- Tell a financial aid counselor that you want your award to include money for your computer.
- Students in the College are exempt from the requirement to fill out the Special Application that Financial
Aid normally requires for laptop aid.
- Do not buy a computer until the Financial Aid office has given you an award letter.
- Do not buy a computer that costs more than the authorized amount, unless you are able to pay for the upgrade expense on your own.
- When you receive your Financial Aid Award Letter, you have two options:
- Buy through the FSU Computer Store:
- Contact the FSU Computer Store to place your order.
- When
the computer arrives, pick up your system, and sign a sales
agreement that authorizes the Computer Store to deduct the purchase
price from your financial aid check.
- Purchase on Your Own: You
can purchase a computer on your own and bring the receipt to the
Financial Aid Office. They will then authorize that portion of your
financial aid set aside for your computer.
