1997 to 1998 Shared Medical Systems (SMS), DeltaHealth Systems Division - Consultant

Generatedimplementation installation and reengineering protocols for clients automatinghome health. Assessed clients for implementation success using structuredinterviews of all functions, evaluation of business plan, and directobservation of operations. Aligneddatabase structure with client business models and developed work plans toovercome barriers to success

1991 - 1997 St. Luke’s Hospital (SLH)/Mayo Clinic - Director of Systems and Procedures (SLH)

Providedstrategy-driven solutions and developed alternative approaches to informationsystem technology, process improvement, human resources, and customerservice/quality issues for Mayo Clinic Jacksonville (185 physicians) and St.Luke’s Hospital (289 beds - Mayo affiliate)

Cost Reduction - Key leader responsiblefor an operational improvement program. Results - 1) Identified $8M dollars in cost savings, 2) Conceived,developed, and administered computerized system to track implementationactivities and flag problem areas, 3) Realized $7.1M in savings over a two-yearperiod.

Project Planning - Results - 1) Improvedprocess to plan, track, and report major information system and electronicmedical record efforts, 2) Develop and lead strategic planning sessions, 3)Conceived, administered, and analyzed management tools.

System Testing and Software Migration -Managed critical cross-campus paperless medical record software upgrade. Results - 1) Generated implementation plan,2) Established Communication Command Center (pagers, e-mail,Hotline), 3) Prepared for automated system for testing new releases.

Implementedmanagement directives including capital program and cost accounting executiveinformation systems. Initiated processimprovement programs.

Cost Accounting - Implemented PC basedcost accounting system (Cost Facts). Results - 1) Performed ground-up thinking to develop actual expenseallocation relationships, 2) Developed detailed procedural cost of service forlab and special radiology procedures, 3) Used to evaluate the feasibility ofproposals with outside agencies.

Service Level quality - Responsible for amanagement audit of a hospital switchboard. Results - 1) Applied simulationtools to identify relationship between service quality and time-of-day/stafflevel, 2) Improved service quality with no increase in personnel.

1981 - 1986 Harris Corporation - Palm Bay, Florida - Quality/Production Engineer

Implementedquality and manufacturing protocols in support of programs individually valuedup to $200M. Chaired the Material Review Board and provided front line customer(U.S. Government) support. Direct lineresponsibility for 15 staff members and budget responsibility to $1M.

1979 - 1980 Hershey Chocolate Company - Pennsylvania - Plant Industrial Engineer

Administrativerepresentative for salary grievance issues and industrial engineering. Developed job descriptions, perform comparativeworth analysis, and developed process improvement proposals.
