1.Scan updates Jan. 7th,, 2003 the United Faculty of Florida and the Board of Regents contracts expire. The Board of Trustees is not recognizing UFF and the UFF cannot
demand to be recognized as legal representation for FSU employees unless their membership represent 50% or more of the total employee pool. 2. Time and Leave policy
review Tabled until the Sept. 25 meeting 3. Review Mission Dr. Brooks is going to review and propose changes to the current mission then forward it to Dr. Conaway for further
tweaking. When they have finished amending the mission statement they will present it to the committee for further changes and approval. Current mission statement: "To
develop policies and procedures that assure adherence to University and School policies related to faculty development and research. To recommend needed changes in
policies and procedures to appropriate bodies. To assure that reports to internal and external groups are accurate and timely." 4. Review Scholarship application The
applications for assistantships will be reviewed at a later date for needed changes (i.e.- clarification as to what applies to local vs. distant students, required hours, etc.). It will
be suggested to the Student Services Team that they review the scholarship application and also make needed changes. 5. GA evaluations GA evaluation were discussed and
the question was raised as to whether it was legal to even use them. Ellen agreed to look into the matter further and report back to the committee. 6. Calendar labeling issue It
was brought to the attention of Diane that faculty members were getting the wrong impression when looking at the "Vacation" calendar. Since it is also used to indicate when
the deans or other faculty/staff are out of the office on business, it was decided to re-title the "Vacation" calendar the "Out-of-Office" calendar. Diane and Ellen have agreed that
when making entries to the "Out-of-Office" calendar that they will list the person's name, the dates that they will be out, and a one or two word description of the event (i.e.-
annual leave or ASIST conference, etc.). 10. Assign sub-team to start disaster plan review Item carried over to the next meeting. 11. Miscellaneous Issues A question was
raised as to how the SUASSIs are ordered and who they are ordered for. Ellen stated that they were ordered for both the Professors/Instructors and TAs for all face to face
courses. TAs are encouraged to use the SUASSIs but can not be required too. If they chose not to use the SUASSI, the packets are simply returned to Evaluation Services. The
University requires Professors and Instructors of face-to-face courses to use the SUASSI if they have ten or more students in a course. Jane has requested that all faculty
leading a face-to-face course use the SUASSI regardless of the class size.
