Report for Meeting Scheduled:

  1. Called to Order: 1:00

  2. Special Orders:

  3. Reports of Sub-Teams:

  4. Reports of Special Teams and other Team Business:
    1) Implementation of the new admissions materials: Gluck announced the forms for admissions to be implemented for Fall, 2001 will be worked on this summer and be ready to post electronically. The GA for the Doctoral Program Team will assist Dr. Kathy Burnett in preparing the forms. He also announced 2-3 students have been admitted for Fall 2000 and other applications are in the review process.

    2) Doctoral Seminar for summers in the future: Discussion was held on the lack of doctoral seminars for the Summer 2000 session due to lack of funds. Chatman said the faculty had approved a seminar for doctoral students for the summer session and there should be a seminar option to achieve the 24 hour residency requirement. She reported an interest of 5-6 students in a previously scheduled class that was canceled. Gluck stated he would draft a letter to the Dean, Associate Dean and Assistant Dean requesting a seminar be offered for summer sessions in the future as a core piece of the doctoral program.

  5. Unfinished Business:

  6. New Business:
    1) Bonnice presented a request to approve space on Slis-two for students to post papers and other work they have accomplished as part of their portfolio. As there is potentially not sufficient space on Garnet, it was suggested space could be made available on Slis-two to the students with specific guidelines on items posted. Chatman voiced concern that work that has been evaluated, with written comments, should not be posted. Gluck agreed there would be a potential privacy problem. Space could be provided for students to post their work but would not be the Portfolio to be reviewed. Students may work out an agreement with the APC on materials to be posted that must address the privacy issue. Chatman suggested the space should have another name rather than portfolio to eliminate misleading others on the content provided. Materials would be the student's choice but not linked with the portfolio, however some of the materials could be overlapping. Gluck suggested the Doctoral Program Team did not have authority to make a decision on the issue but he would submit it to the TSS.

    2) Portfolio Review: Gluck asked how the portfolio review process is advancing and stated that the process for his students was coming along well. A deadline of April 15 was set for the completion of the process with review forms submitted to Gluck. Reid asked if there would be a contractual agreement made with the APC in regards to the increased enhancements to the current program and added requirements. Gluck said it was an advisory relationship rather than a contractual one and changes may be made by either the faculty or student in case of disagreement. The two should negotiate the student's program of study.
