-Kathy and Eliza provided background information on the
curriculum revision (foundation course) and new MS degree
in Information Science and Technology
o Decided to concentrate on two agenda items during the Fall
semester. Formed two project teams to work on the issues.
- Curriculum revision project team: E. Dresang, K. Burnett,
D. Latham, M. Chavez-Hernandez, S. Maatta, and M. Davis
- MS Degree project team: R. Blazek, K. Belton, W. Shim,
M. Heo, K. Burnett, L. Bonnici, T. Markland.
o The curriculum revision team will develop course syllabus
and method of delivery of the 3 credit foundation course
and capstone course. The result will be discussed during
the October team Meeting so that it can be presented to
the faculty during the November meeting.
o The MS degree team will conduct market analysis for
feasibility of such a degree. If the results of the
investigation turn out to be positive, then it will
study the contents of the program and present it to the
M&SP Team for review. The outcome of the review will be
presented to the faculty during the November meeting.
o The following procedures were established to nominate
the Summers Graduate Student Award*.
* eligible to students who have graduated in the Fall
2000, Spring and Summer 2001.
- T. Markland will compile the list of students with
a GPA 3.5 and above or top 20 students. by Sep. 5
- Dean's office will contact the students requesting
a one-page statement attesting their academic
achievement, service to the school, and professional
and community service. by Sep 10
- A small group of members of the M&SP Team (K. Belton,
M. Genz, M. Heo, and E. Dresang) will review the
statements and select 5 candidates. by Sep. 18
- The short list will be sent to faculty members for
voting. by Sep. 25
