  5. 1. Marcella Genz will serve as the team leader for 2002-2003 academic year. 2. The following items are considered as agenda for the academic year. a. Continue and finish graduate concentrations - what the concentrations really are - how concentrations and courses fit together - roll out plan for online courses b. Revisit core required courses - especially in reference to Information Retrieval and Information Science c. Role of faculty and graduate advising - who’s doing what - needs a better delineation of responsibilities between faculty members and graduate advisor d. Change of CIP code from archival & library to computer and IT related category - Is it worth it, what are the impacts? - Need more information e. Discussion of student orientation - There was a debriefing session on the Friday night - Will discuss individual experience in the next meeting - Formal planning for next year’s orientation will take place toward in the Spring f. Discussion of specialist program - Toward the end of the semester g. School media program leadership - Due to Hart’s retirement - Needs data on school media major enrollment and others - Will discuss in the Spring h. Admissions policy and procedures - Size of admission and criteria - Admission deadline (currently 7/1) - Move the deadline to 6/1 with the provision stating “preference will be given to applications postmarked on or before June 1st.” - Ask Strategic Planning Comte to give us guidance especially as to the size and criteria - In the meantime, Latham will gather data on other LIS schools’ deadline policy i. Faculty involvement in dealing with dismissed students - Need formal appeals/grievance procedure j. Setting up quality standards for instruction - Class size, effectiveness of I-chat, quality of TA’s, any disadvantages for local students due to courses being offered online, and other issues - Ask Strategic Planning Comte to give us guidance 3. Guidelines for Summers Outstanding Graduate Student Award distributed - Latham will give the list of eligible students (GPA over 3.5) to Genz 4. Recommendation for student members - Latham recommended Lynne Barrett, Alex Goodman, Jodi Croft as candidates - Genz will contact them as to their willingness and availability 5. Next meeting will take place between 3:30-5:00PM on September 18th in Gregory Conference room.
