Promotion and Tenure Special Team
Minutes from meeting September 10, 1999
Faculty present E.A. Chatman (Chair), R. Blazek, K. Burnett, M. Gluck, and B. Logan.
I. The Promotion and Tenure Team decide on the following meeting times for the Fall 1999 semester.
September 10, 1999, 12:00noon - 1:00pm
September 21, 1999, 12:30pm - 1:30pm
October 5, 1999, 12:30pm - 1:30pm
October 19, 1999, 12:30pm - 1:30pm
November 16, 1999, 12:30pm - 1:30pm
November 30, 1999, 12:30pm - 1:30pm
II. E.A. Chatman distributed the changes for the Team:
1. Tenure review.
2. Fourth year review.
3. Revise and update Tenure review process.
4. Named Professorship.
5. Create guidelines for third year review.
6. Up date of Peer Review of Teaching Document.
III. Several other documents were distributed to the Team members including Promotion and Tenure Policy of the IS School, the University, and guidelines listed in the Faculty Handbook.
IV. Members of the Team (committee) were divided into sub-committees to begin working on the changes. R. Blazek and E.A.Chatman will develop a guideline for the Named Professorship. K. Burnett and M. Gluck agreed to establish procedures for the Mid-Career Review. Chatman will do the up date of the Peer Review of Teaching. Also, G. Burnett will be notified that this fall two members from the faculty will visit his class.
V. The committee requested that E.A. Chatman inform the candidate for tenure that all documents must be given to the committee no later than October 5, 1999, before the 12:30pm meeting.
VI. R. Blazek and E.A. Chatman agreed to have a draft of the Named professorship for the September 21, 1999, meeting.
The Promotion and Tenure Team adjourned at 1:00pm.
