Promotion and Tenure Special Team

Present: Ron Blazek, Kathy Burnet, Elfreda Chatman, Myke Gluck, (absent Beth Logan)
Visitors: Eliza Dresang and Bill Summers
I. Dr. Chatman and Dr. Blazek developed guidelines for the named Professorship. After some discussion, the members approved the named professorship.
II. Dr. Chatman distributed the Untenured Faculty Review Schedule to the team as well as the University's guidelines regarding the responsibilities of the team regarding the Promotion and Tenure process.
III. Peer review for two faculty members and the composition of the team were discussed.
IV. Dr. Summer was invited to talk to the team regarding the University's procedure for promotion and tenure. He informed the Committee regarding the voting process. All members were asked to read the Promotion and Tenure Binders memorandum from Dean Steve Edwards.
V. Guidelines for the Mid-Career Review process were tabled until the October 5, 1999 meeting.
VI. Chatman was asked by the members to clarify whether members of the Promotion and Tenure Team voted twice, as team members and as tenure faculty.
The meeting was adjourned at 1:30 pm.
