Meeting Topic: Preparing for Fall Semester

I. Undergraduate Orientation

A. Next week on Wednesday or Thursday

- anticipating 15 per session

- currently scheduled for Rm 101; need to change to Rm 214

- check with Don Latham on one-time reservations for class rooms

- is computer access required?

II. Front Desk

A. Treneta will be working at the front desk

B. Ask that calls be transferred to voice mail rather than taking messages

C. Moving 4-575 phone number to student services desk

- current front receptionist will be support for administration

- peer advisors/GRA to serve as student services reception

- does it make sense to move - need to discuss further

- is phone tree currently effective?

D. We should have 4 G.A.s for the front desk

III. Peer Advising

A. Recommendation to look at the College of Communication as a model

B. Peer advisors will each work about 9 hours per week

C. We'll have a GRA who will coordinate the peers and the front desk

IV. Training for Student Workers

A. Pam is coordinating

- Don, Pam and Diane are doing the training

- Don and Debbie are working on materials for training

- Janet Capps is working on something for skills

- Where are the documents for training?

- Who is training the lab staff? Laurie Bonnice?

B. Customer service skills need to be improved

C. Establishing a review process for G.A.s across the board

D. Don, Beth, Todd and Pam will set up blocks of time during the week of August 30th to do the training

- Need to get together to create agenda & timeframe for training

V. Fall Meetings

A. Everyone will meet together once a month

B. Graduate sub-group and Undergraduate sub-group will have separate meetings once a month
