1. Graduation Recruitment: Burnett suggests that Hurston and Cheshire will work together in planning and exploring recruiting strategies. Burnett brainstorms- focus on Specialist and Information Studies Master's, plan for national advertising (we're already guaranteed the Florida students, have to reach outward).
a. Find out whether school is still placing ads in Chronicle, New York Times. McClure has suggested Library Journal, American Libraries. Target minority publications. Davis suggests featuring one of our students in Ebony.
b. Web staff is preparing a banner ad-consider issues of what we should be linking to (Burnett).
c. Latham suggests advertising in more I.T. oriented publications- Online, Database, etc.
d. Hold off on pitching school media nationally, what with changes such as Hart leaving for a year.
e. Look into listservs, which ones to post our items to.
f. Consider expanding our presence at upcoming conferences. Site visits at library training facilities (Jacksonville).
g. Look into GRE Bank and from there targeted mailings - Maatta.
h. Recruitment drawing from departments of Education, Communication, Humanities. Many graduates from these schools are looking to add more technical skills.
i. What about Robbie, Sandy, Fran? Use them more, similar to recent Jacksonville visit.
j. FAMU Recruiting - get in touch with Bachelor's Honors Program, add them to targeted mailings, they encourage advanced technical education.
k. Maatta + Cheshire: Assemble a list of places for targeted mailings and paper them.
l. (Latham) Give a presentation at a SOIS Meeting about our Master's Program. Target undergrad juniors with 3.5 GPA or better with info.
m. Assemble a power-point presentation for blanket future use (conferences, presentations, site visits, distance "ambassadors"). Burnett, Latham, Maatta will meet on Monday morning to develop text/content. Moyer will aid in design.
n. Burnett- Resume featuring a student on our website each month.
1. Orientation Planning: going smoothly (Maatta). All rooms are booked, Wakulla is reserved. We have permission to use a number of precanned tutorials for the online orientation sessions. Only have to make the FTP tutorial. Fran, Sandy, Elise will undergo a dry run of the online interactive sessions in early June. Maatta will come up with staffing/overtime requirement numbers. Maatta: when to start distance student fall registration?
1. Davis- discusses salient points of the admissions meeting yesterday. Registrar website will make it easier for faculty to view their class rosters. The possibility of the entire application process going online is closer and closer to becoming a reality. Note about paying tuition for summer and fall at the University Center, more as this develops.
