First Meeting of the Fall Term/Progress Reports on Current Projects

I. List of undergraduate candidates for accelerated matriculation

A. Criteria: 3.5 GPA, Junior

B. Beth and Dan to create.

II. Template for memos and letters of recommendation.

A. Standardized for office/administrative use.

B. Dan to create.

III. Survey of undergraduate alumni.

A. Jessica Larkey may do it as D.I.S.

B. General ideas: where they work, what they do, what classes did they find valuable.

IV. Investigating other Certificate Programs on campus.

A. Pam and Matthew will collaborate on a final report.

V. Spring/Summer Course Preview.

A. After noting lack of attendance, the suggestion is made to drop the Preview Session. General agreement.

B. Consensus is for an emphasis to be placed on set advising week schedule.

C. Increased emphasis also to be placed on students getting their Garnet account and on listserv to be made aware of advising schedules, class cancellations, etc.

- Latham suggests necessity of a set policy for informing students of class cancellations.

- Responsibility will be placed on the student.

- Communications will be made via school listserv.

VI. G.A. Training/Staffing

A. Training went well, Admin. Desk in fully staffed.

B. Latham will help Pam Hurston with future hirings. Pam supervises.

VII. David and Blair are given the floor.

A. Help with Calendar and Intranet passwords and access.

B. Agreement on shared Calendar log-ins and U.S.S. folders for G.A. office staff, and generic access measure to Intranet. Least intrusive measure.

VIII. Laurie is given the floor.

A. Student Carrels in PhD room.

- 28 carrels, 31 people need them. Possible conflicts arising.

- Student Services should decide on revised criteria for carrels. Formal application process, who will assign the carrels.

- Laurie would like the decision to be handed down from this committee.

IX. The possibility of Spring admissions is going before the faculty.
