2-Approval of syllabus for Technical and Professional Communication.
Suggestions were presented for the Technical & Professional Communication course syllabus, including:
· To focus the course on what students will be expected to have in the real word: good communication & writing skills.
· Add suggestion of other related courses around the campus (i.e., Public meeting courses).
3- IS minor - permission required from Major department.
Change of wording was approved to facilitate understanding in web site of general University requirements when applying for minor programs.
4- Limited Access report
By recommendation of FSU's Provost, SIS will request Limited Access to be applied to the undergraduate program. In order to comply with the procedures, a profile of our students will be gathered to justify that by applying Limited Access diversity among students will not be affected.
5-Plagiarism form
Plagiarism form will be distributed at the beginning of each semester for students to sign. Example will be added to the web site.
6- Enhanced course descriptions
Example of an enhanced course description was presented. It won't be included in catalog but will be presented to all faculty.
Frequently Asked Questions
1-Issues about priority during registration / capping of courses was raised by undergraduate representatives. Data and statistics will be reviewed and presented on next meetings to determine how serious the problem really is.
2-Representative students raised their concerns about some perceptions related to UG courses. Professors provided an explanation from the base that "courses cannot be focused on specific interest of individuals, since there is such a variety of interests (i.e., library majors [public, academic, special], information majors, etc.) but have to be designed in a general way; students have to take and apply according to their interests.
