Master's Degree

The Master's degree is ALA accredited.

Application Deadlines: Application deadlines are the dates by which all application materials must be received at FSU.

Admission to the Master's degree is for fall and spring only.

Fall: priority deadline is June 1; final deadline is July 1. Spring deadline: November 1.

Admission to the College's Master's degree program requires approval of both the University and the College of Information. Read carefully and follow ALL the steps below.

  1. Submit the online University application for graduate admission. APPLY NOW

  2. Pay the application fee. The application will not be processed until you have paid the fee.

  3. Upload the required documents in the University application under Supporting Documents.
    The University application will not be processed without the required Supporting Documents.

  4. Submit to the Office of Admissions two (2) official transcripts from every college/university at which you took courses, whether you earned a degree there or not.

  5. Submit to the Office of Admissions an official report of your GRE scores (verbal & quantitative).

Minimum Admission Requirements

Note: The requirements indicated below are used to determine admissibility. YOU MUST SUBMIT GRE SCORES EVEN IF YOU MEET THE MINIMUM GPA REQUIREMENT FOR ADMISSION.

  1. Possession of a baccalaureate degree from a college/university meeting national and./or regional standards for accreditation.

  2. EITHER:

    A minimum 3.0 GPA (4.0=A) on the last two years of the baccalaureate degree or a 3.0 on a Master's degree. In both cases, the college/university must meet national and/or regional standards for accreditation.

    OR:

    A minimum combined GRE score of 1000 on the verbal and quantitative sections. All applicants must submit official GRE scores regardless of their GPA.

Meeting the University's minimum required GPA or GRE scores does not guarantee admission to the program. Admission is competitive and applicants are evaluated on ALL parts of the application, including the Supporting Documents. Applicants must demonstrate academic ability, focus, interest, commitment and other evidence that they can succeed in our graduate program and contribute to the profession. The College of Information gives preference for admission to applicants who meet the minimum University requirements for both the GPA and the GRE.

International Students only: Applicants whose native language is not English must submit a minimum TOEFL score of 550 on the written exam, or 213 on the computer exam, or 80 on the internet exam. This requirement may be waived with documentation of successful completion of at least one academic year of study in a country whose official language is English.
