Registration and Schedules
Current and projected course schedules at the College of Information
Your can register for classes at the Florida State University online through the Office of the University Registrar.
Course waiting lists are maintained during the course registration period. The waitlist is available online from the College's website.
Drop/Add
During the first four days of classes, individual courses may be added, dropped, or sections of a course changed. Students are financially liable for all courses that appear on their schedule after the fourth day of classes. Courses may be dropped through the seventh week of classes; however, tuition charges will remain. Approval by the student's academic dean is require to reduce the academic load below twelve (12) semester hours. Courses dropped during this period will not appear on the student's transcript. To add courses after the first four days of classes requires the academic dean's approval. After the seventh week of classes, courses may be dropped only in exceptional circumstances. Approval is required by the adviser and the academic dean. Such courses will appear on the student's transcript with the notation "WD." Students who register for courses, but who do not attend the classes will received grades of "F" if the courses are not officially dropped.
Incompletes
Should it become necessary at the end of a semester to discontinue taking a course or courses, a student may opt to take an Incomplete, with the permission of the course instructor. The student will then have through the following semester of enrollment to finish the necessary course work, and have the grade report changed from an "I" to the appropriate grade. No student will be permitted to graduate with any Incompletes outstanding on his/her record. No tuition money is refunded should the student take this option.
Withdrawal
Withdrawals are initiated in the Office of Withdrawal Services, 4329 UCA. All students seeking to withdraw from the semester should speak with an advisor before contacting Withdrawal Services.
Graduation
Graduation Checks
Students should request a graduation check with the Registrar's Office and the academic dean's office after they have completed 90 credit hours. The check will be an overview of the requirements needed for graduation. If a student does not request a graduation check by the time he/she reaches 110 credit hours, a hold will be placed on the student's future registration.Notice of Intent
Students must apply to graduate through the Office of the Registrar by the end of the second week of the term in which they will complete all degree requirements. Students apply for graduation at the Registrar's Office, 3900 University Center A. Students who do not graduate after applying for the degree will be charged $5 to pay for printing a new diploma.Graduating Student Survey
Students who apply for graduation will be asked to participate in a graduating student survey. The purpose of the survey is to seek honest input regarding procedures, faculty, courses, the lab, staff, the library, and student experiences at the College. The survey is be available online from the College's website, and graduating students will receive an email with directions on how to complete the survey.University Ceremony
Commencement ceremonies to confer degrees are held at the end of fall, spring, and summer semesters. No one is allowed to participate in a ceremony before completion of requirements. A limited number of guest tickets is available to each graduating student.
- Importance of attending - In order to have the College's presence on campus felt, it is the hope that all graduating students will attend the University's graduation ceremony.
- Graduation Cap and Gown - Caps and gowns are ordered through the University Bookstore. Undergraduate students may either purchase or rent their academic regalia.
