On Campus
Wired/Ethernet
The College of Information does not have wired internet connections available other than those in faculty and staff offices. All faculty and staff computers that have been set up by CI helpdesk Services should be able to connect to any one of these connections.
Wireless
Wireless internet connection is available throughout the Louis Shores Building and throughout the FSU campus. To connect to the wireless network you will need a wireless network card that is either 802.11b or 802.11g compatible.
Because the current wireless connection does not encrypt your internet traffic, we recommend using the FSU Virtual Private Networking Client when using the FSU wireless network.
To configure your wireless device visit the OTC website http://helpdesk.fsu.edu/internet/wireless/index.cfm.
Off Campus
Dial-up Service (discontinued)
Consequently, as of August 1, no new account requests for dialup will be accepted. Pre-existing accounts will remain active through August 31 to allow time to select another provider. For more information, see http://helpdesk.fsu.edu/dialup.cfm.
SSH File Transfer Client/Garnet Access
SSH File Transfer Client is an encrypted telnet-like program that if configured correctly can be used to transfer files into your Garnet/Mailer account. You can also use this program to transfer files to your personal website on the Garnet/Mailer server.
For instructions on how to use this program to access your Garnet account, go to:
http://helpdesk.fsu.edu/email/ssh.cfm#connect
Library Proxy
To get access to all library electronic resources from off campus, use the library's EZ Proxy service.
The EZ Proxy is at http://www.lib.fsu.edu/remoteaccess_proxy
The library has made a short animated tutorial to help you use the EZ Proxy: http://www.lib.fsu.edu/files/libfsuedu/tutorials/mozilla_ez/mozilla_ez.viewlet/mozilla_ez.swf
