  • Adobe Acrobat Reader 7.0
    • A program that views and prints information in its original format even if a copy of the original program that created the information is not available. Acrobat Reader can be a stand-alone program or plug-in to a Web browser. It is a free program that reads files with a PDF extension and can be downloaded from Adobe at www.adobe.com.

  • FileZilla
  • Firefox
    • A web browser that blocks viruses, spyware, and popup ads. And it’s easy to install and import your favorites. It has useful features such as tabbed browsing, Live Bookmarks, and an integrated Search bar.

  • Macromedia Flash Plugin
    • Adobe Flash Player is the high-performance, lightweight, highly expressive client runtime that delivers powerful and consistent user experiences across major operating systems, browsers, mobile phones, and devices. (www.adobe.com, 2006)

  • RealPlayer
    • RealPlayer is a media player, created by RealNetworks, that plays a number of multimedia formats including multiple generations of RealAudio and RealVideo codecs as well as MP3, MPEG-4, QuickTime, etc.( http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Real_Player, 2006)

  • SSH Secure Shell
    • Developed by SSH Communications Security Ltd., "Secure Shell" is a program to log into another computer over a network, to execute commands in a remote machine, and to move files from one machine to another. It provides strong authentication and secure communications over insecure channels. It is a replacement for rlogin, rsh, rcp, and rdist. SSH protects a network from attacks such as IP spoofing, IP source routing, and DNS spoofing. An attacker who has managed to take over a network can only force ssh to disconnect. He or she cannot play back the traffic or hijack the connection when encryption is enabled.

  • Trillian Instant Messaging Client Basic
    • A multiprotocol instant messaging application for Windows created by Cerulean Studios that can connect to multiple IM programs from one client, such as AIM, ICQ, MSN Messenger, Yahoo! Messenger, IRC, Novell GroupWise Messenger, Bonjour, Jabber, and Skype networks (the latter four with Trillian Pro which allows for additional plugins).
